Tips for Highly Sensitive People

In today’s post, I wanted to talk about a topic that I’m sure many of you all might be able to relate to. Just a few months ago as I was doing some research, I came across a video that talked about the traits of a highly sensitive person. Right away I knew that was me! I’m all about discovering who it is you are in order to embrace the traits that you have been given. As I made more discoveries I couldn’t help but feel a sense of peace knowing that I wasn’t the only one in this category and that being an HSP is actually a thing! If you’ve never heard of the term HSP, take a simple quiz HERE to learn if you have the traits considered to be that of a Highly Sensitive Person.

Today, I wanted to share 3 tips that have helped me recently on my journey while being a highly sensitive person.

  1. Find someone, whether, a friend, partner, family member, that you can be completely vulnerable with and share with them when you are feeling overwhelmed and deeply emotional. Having people in your life that you can be open with and won’t judge you is extremely freeing and necessary for an HSP.
  2. Surround yourself and connect with other HSP. It’s true what they say “Birds of a feather flock together.” I love surrounding myself and meeting people that are completely different than me because there is so much you can learn from each other. As an HSP though I think it’s great to have friendships with other people that carry the same traits. Everyone can share with one another their struggles and how they deal with certain challenges you are faced with while being an HSP.
  3. And my final tip is to FEEL it in order to HEAL it. This simply means that instead of suppressing the strong emotions you might be feeling, to make note of them and release them. I personally spent so many years trying not to seem so sensitive. But when I realized there was nothing wrong with being this way, I’ve slowly started to accept that this is just part of who I am. 🙂
