Living on One Dollar Documentary + The Compassion Experience

Last week I watched an amazing documentary on Netflix called Living On One Dollar. If you haven’t watched it yet I highly recommend it! It will be an eye-opening film for you for sure. I won’t get into detail what it’s all about but based on the title I’m sure you have an idea. 🙂

One of my goals I had set for myself at the beginning of this year was to give back more. I asked God to show me ways in which I could help someone in need and sure enough, it’s been happening. When I watched the documentary it made me realize how little money it takes to sustain yourself in Guatemala, where the film takes place. People could start their own businesses with less than $200. It’s incredible to think how far your money can go and all it can do to help people from poverty-stricken countries lead better lives.

As the great Tony Robbins puts it, the secret to living is giving. I truly believe when we learn to give back to the world in a positive way not only will it better the lives of the receiver but it will bring you tremendous joy as well. Think about it guys. When we are no longer here on planet earth what will be left behind by you? What will be your legacy? How did you make the world a better place? There is so much need around the world that it can feel like a helpless situation, but trust me I’ve realized anything you can do to give back does help.

As my eye-opening week of compassion and giving back continued I attended The Compassion Experience! This event also showed how other people in poverty-stricken countries are living day by day and what you can do to help. The organization travels all around the U.S sharing stories about real people who because of someone’s helping hand were able to get out of poverty in their country. As I arrived with my sister and mom I saw a lot of families with young children waiting to go in. That is awesome, I thought to myself because I believe exposing your kids when their young to this type of environment can lead them to become not only natural givers but also realize how blessed they are.

“People who really want to make a difference in the world usually do it, in one way or another. And I’ve noticed something about people who make a difference in the world: They hold the unshakable conviction that individuals are extremely important, that every life matters. They get excited over one smile. They are willing to feed one stomach, educate one mind, and treat one wound. They aren’t determined to revolutionize the world all at once; they’re satisfied with small changes. Over time, though, the small changes add up. Sometimes they even transform cities and nations, and yes, the world.” ~Beth Clark

Find organizations and people who you feel pulled to give to. You simply never know how far your money or time can go. Remember when you give back, you train your mind to know that there is always more than enough to go around. Do you have favorite organizations you give back too? What can you do starting today to program your mind to give? Share your ideas with me in the comments below, I would love to hear from you!

Wishing you love, success, and a lifetime of bliss!
